New York City Hotel Deals for Holidays

It’s a fact that travel costs are the most expensive during holiday times. The airlines know it; the hotels know it; and the entertainment houses know it. In a previous life (er…marriage), I was only able to vacation during the Christmas and July Fourth holiday times, which are the times when crowds and expenses are enormous!

I assumed we could not find deep deals during that time, especially New York City hotel deals. Wrong. New York is one of the most popular cities in the world yet there are deals to be had every day and definitely during holiday times.

Many forward-thinking hotels are offering such good discounts that it’s worthwhile to try the Asian shopping approach to accommodations – bargain down the price!

Besides, you want to save your money on some of New York’s finest foods!  Where else can you get scrumptious pastrami sandwiches at bargain prices!  Get a hot deal on a New York City hotel and a hot deal on New York City pastrami and rye.  I digress.

To find the hot hotel deals, you can travel right into the heart of Manhattan and find real deals. We spotted a deal at the St. Giles on East 39^th Street offering one of the hottest New York City hotel deals. During the holidays, two adults can stay for three nights for a New York City deal of only $181 per night! That’s not a deal in Houston, Texas but it’s a great rate for a quality hotel in Manhattan, especially during the holidays.

Not all deals are with fabulous boutiques. Many of the hotel chains offer deeply discounted room rates. The SpringHill Suites, which is close to the Newark International Airport, offers very competitive deals worth checking out. It’s not technically a New York City hotel deal since it’s in New Jersey, but many of us visit New York but sleep in New Jersey. This hotel is a slight bus trip away from the big City.

The Distrikt Hotel on West 40^th Street in Manhattan is one of my favorite hotels. Of course the name is catchy which made me want to check them out. This is a 4-star hotel that is beautifully contemporary yet they are humble enough to offer hotel deals to our liking. If you plan to spend your holidays in New York City, this is the hotel I would check out first. A disclaimer: I have never had a chance to spend the night at the Distrikt Hotel but it is definitely in my sights. The Distrikt will let two people sleep in their crispy clean sheets for three nights for less than $400. Do the math on that one.

I did more digging just to see if I could find cheap hotels in New York and found a lot of deals. Some of the hotels claimed they had one or two rooms left at their deeply discounted fares yet that didn’t bother me. I just wanted to identify hot deals. The Wyndham Garden Times Square South was recommended to me by a friend who said this hotel is reliably good at offering discounts during the holiday season. Staying in Times Square at a decent hotel for a discounted price can be the element that decides whether you can take the trip or not. The Wyndham gets consistently good reviews from their guests and their international brand is one of high quality.

I am always on the hunt to identify cheap hotels in New York City, however, “cheap” must refer only to the deal they offer, not to the hotel’s appearance. Your recommendations are welcome!
